Empowering customers with clarity and control at the item page level
When shopping online at Walmart, customers often enter through deep links or come in with mixed fulfillment preferences—some prefer shipping, others rely on pickup or delivery. However, the existing experience didn’t clearly indicate how an item would be fulfilled once added to the cart, leading to confusion, frustration, and potential drop-offs.
Item Level Control was designed to solve that. My goal was to create a user-friendly experience that provides transparency and actionable control at the product level—before “Add to Cart” (ATC). I focused especially on users with fewer items in their order and those who cross-shop between pickup and shipping.
My Role
I led the experience strategy and design, using a blend of market research, competitive analysis, and an Anatomy approach to guide concepting and design development. I focused on creating clarity without adding friction, making sure users felt in control of their fulfillment choices without needing to overthink or take extra steps.
